ABOUT ME

I was been born and raised in the beautiful state of West Virginia to parents whom immigrated from the East Asian country of Vietnam. I am honored to return to represent the state that I call home, as well as be the first Asian American to serve in the United States Senate. I knew form a very young age that I wanted to return to West Virginia and commit to serving and improving the quality of life for its people, but knew that I must gain experiences from outside the safe borders of West Virginia which I knew and loved.

EDUCATION

I received my B.A. from the University of Chicago in Political Science with a minor in Human Rights. I felt the need to challenge myself further, leading me to study at Harvard Law School where I received my law degree, graduating first in my class. Upon finishing law school, I began work as a civil lawyer which would encompass my life up until I was elected as Governor of West Virginia. Then furthering my service to West Virginians, I ran to be their Senator and they have graciously allowed me this honor. I am currently serving as chairman of the Committee of Science, Commerce, and Transportation

MY PHILOSOPHY

Tina's Junior Class Trip to Washington D.C. sparked her life-long love of politics.

I am fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to learn and grow from my time in Congress. The relationships that I share with my colleagues, professional and personal have added to my knowledge and to this, I support their successes as well.

Senators Rendeiro, Nguyen and Nicholls.

Senator Espinoza and Nguyen

As a Senator, I strive to address the concerns of my constituents to the best of my ability and take into consideration their ideas and opinions. Although, I not only have the best interest of the people of West Virginia, but as a Senator, I also have to keep in mind the effect of legislation on the United States as a whole, and the future of this country.
